FREE Vector Clip Art Library

This library contains a collection of vector graphics clip art images that where originally downloaded from the Open Clip Art Library.

The Open Clip Art Library is a depository where artists contribute their work, and all graphics submitted are placed into the Public Domain. Being in the public domain means the clip art images may be used in all your projects, private or commercial. Being an open depository means that anyone can contribute and, although most of the clip art is of high quality, some of it is too simplistic and crude. Therefore, I have placed some (only a tiny portion) of the highest quality clip art from the Open Clip Art Library into this archive.

All the clip art in this archive is in vector graphics format. An image in raster graphics consists of an array of colored pixels. When you enlarge a raster graphics image it becomes blocky or blury. A vector graphics image consists of geometric data about the image. When you enlarge a vector graphics image, mathematical operations are applied to the geometric data resulting in a larger image without loss of sharpness. This allows you to use the clip art in your project in any size that you desire without loss of quality.

All the clip art in this archive is in .svg (Scalable Vector Graphics) file format. The .svg format is a relatively new XML-based vector graphics image format. The SVG specification is an open standard that was developed by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium). The .svg format is replacing proprietary formats like Microsoft's .wmf (Windows Metafile) format. All modern computer applications, except Microsoft Internet Explorer, support the .svg format. To view SVG files in Internet Explorer, you'll need to download and install a browser plugin.
