Five Simple Steps to Finding a Job

Maybe you have just been fired or have just graduated some school or college or even university. Or maybe you just want to make a switch in your career or make a comeback after a maternity leave. In order to find a job you have to know the job market. You have to explore that niche that you were planning to enter and to find out all the pros and cons. But that is not enough. Besides knowing the market you have to ask yourself - what exactly do I want? What kind of job do I want? There are five quick and practical steps to find a job.

1. Friends and acquaintances

Many companies employ workers depending on the reference made by their relatives and friends. In other words, companies rely on employees referrals. It's just the way it is. So you should do one thing at the beginning - make a list of all your relatives, friends and former colleagues. Then get in touch with them and ask if they know anything about some new work or a job or an opening.

It's even better if you have a Facebook account. You can post a message. In that way everybody will see your message and you won't have to call them, however I prefer an individual call. Individual call shows that you remembered that person and he or she feels more obliged to do a favor.

2. Online job agencies and newspapers

Scan all online job agencies and send your CV. Pick up all the best morning newspapers, open the ads page and write down the ads that suit you most. Let others know about you. I know that sending your CV to 50 or 60 agencies daily is a painful thing to do, however this endeavor pays off. The more you try the more chances are that you are closer to achieving your goal. Don't stop.

Webmaster message: CV stands for "Curriculum Vitae". A curriculum vitae is used primarily when applying for academic, education, scientific or research positions. It's longer than a resume because it includes a summary of your educational background, teaching experience, research experience, things you've published and other academic details.

3. Research the company

You could make a list of companies that you would like to work for and inspect their websites. Today almost every firm or company has its own website that shows advertised products, supporters, partners, their line of work, etc. This is a good opportunity to find out more about them and to surpass an average job seeker. I could say that strategic and planned job seeking is like a sports or a game. Someone always wins and someone looses. Don't be a losser, prepare yourself and be ready.

4. Present your idea

Make one more step towards achieving your goal and present an idea to the company you would like to work. For example, if you want to work at Adidas shop as a sales agent or marketing director, find out everything about their products, i.e - shoes, trousers, T-shirts, socks, jackets, trainers, sneakers. You will even have to visit their shop and see the products yourself.

Then try to research more about storing conditions, the quality and quantity of goods received (it's a bit more difficult than just scanning the website). Maybe your friend works at this company, then visit him and find out as much as possible. After that write a CV and present an idea that you came up with. Prove them that by hiring you they will improve their production.
