Solve Small Problem Make Big Money

It's a chilly afternoon in the Northeast, and you're taking your three-year-old
for a walk in thier stroller. The blanket keeps slipping off and getting tangled in
the wheels of the stroller, or getting dirty from dragging on the ground.
You stitch the blanket into a pouch that wraps around the child and the stroller
so the blanket doesn't fall off. Many of your friends have the same "blanket
slipping off" problem, and when they learn about your invention, they request
that you make a pouch blanket for them.
Jeanette Benway understands that solving a small problem for several thousand
people can make you a lot of money. She named her blanket the Cozy Rosie® after
her youngest daughter, and found a company in Vermont that would manufacture a
small 1,000 blanket production order. Jeanette took the blankets to baby stores,
sent blankets to mail order catalogs, and displayed them at trade shows.

Disable Kernal Paging to Speed Up Windows

Modern operating systems use a memory management scheme called "paging". To increase
the amount of memory, the operating system allocates part of the hard disk as
"virtual" or "pretend" memory. A "Page" is a chunk of data that is moved from RAM
to virtual memory in order to make room for programs or data being moved into RAM.
When data in virtual memory is needed back in RAM, another page swap occurs.
Although "paging" allows the operating system to function as if it had much more
RAM installed than it actually has, the hard disk is much slower to access than
real RAM. The Windows operating system itself is slowed by paging. You can speed
up the Windows by configuring it to keep the "kernal", or "heart" of the Windows
operating system in RAM.
